Under our new brand structure, we have optimized our activities to sharpen our focus and better utilize the findings of our R&D activities. We have integrated the activities of our group, across departments and locations, to enrich the hospitality learning experience with innovative course options and international study opportunities.
Not surprisingly, the hospitality and education industries have taken notice of these developments, compensating EHL with several outstanding awards.
Here is the overview of EHL’s key highlights from 2019:
A Michelin-Star for the BDS
In early 2019, the Michelin Guide awarded one star to Le Berceau des Sens (BDS) making it the first, and only, educational restaurant in Switzerland to receive this ultimate culinary distinction. It is a great honor for Head Chef Cédric Bourrassin, and the whole outstanding team of BDS, who earned this recognition by delivering Michelin-quality culinary and service experiences. The BDS rating of 16/20 by Gault & Millau was also renewed this year.
Top Rankings
EHL also started the year with two #1 rankings according to international ranking studies, which attest to the academic quality of our institution and its reputation among employers in the hospitality industry. In February, EHL ranked # 1 among hospitality management schools worldwide (QS World University Rankings, Hospitality & Leisure Management, 2019). Additionally, EHL ranked # 1 of Best Hospitality and Hotel Management Schools in the World (CEO World Magazine, 2019).
In addition, EHL Campus Lausanne has been ranked N°1 and EHL Campus Passugg has been ranked N°2 in the “10 Most Promising European Educational Institutes for Indian Students 2019” in the ranking made by the magazine CEOInsightsIndia.
Award for Innovation in Education
Fast-forward to November 26, 2019, in Paris, where EHL was awarded the World Hospitality Awards (WHA) prize for “Innovation in Education” in recognition of its revamped Bachelor of Science in International Hospitality Management. This award recognizes two major additions to the program:
International Campus in Singapore
EHL Group received the authorization to deliver its Bachelor of Science in International Hospitality Management in Singapore. This location will enrich students’ learning experience with a taste of Asian hospitality trends and global business perspectives. EHL Campus (Singapore) will offer semester exchange options to select students and receive its first cohort in the fall of 2021.
A New Pathway to the Bachelor’s Degree
A Professional Pathway was introduced for the Bachelor of Science in International Hospitality Management for students who prefer hands-on learning and want extra industry experience. The new Professional Pathway, delivered primarily on the Passugg campus, offers a 50/50 balance of professional experience and classroom learning and includes 1.5 years of management and business subjects from the Academic Pathway (EHL’s original bachelor’s degree) and ends with a semester in Lausanne.
EHL Alliance
To create closer collaboration with the industry and a permanent feedback loop, we are creating a global network of professional and academic expertise: the EHL Alliance. This platform will allow academic and industry professionals to exchange resources, advice and support for implementing the latest trends and innovation in the global hospitality industry. Members benefit from privileged status and discounted rates (from 20 to 50% off) for select consulting services, partnerships, educational programs and training with EHL Advisory Services.
Our achievements were only possible with the contribution of the whole EHL community: current and past students, our alumni around the world, faculty and staff, industry partners and everyone who share the EHL spirit.
Stay tuned for more in 2020.
