- Mi Rinconcito Mexicano:Right when you step into the restaurant, the whole ambience greets you in the way of authentic Mexican. Decorations, like Picado Banners, sombreros and flower crowns, in the colors of the Mexican national flag, hang everywhere. If you don’t know what to pick for food, ordering the combination platter No.3 will set you straight. Afterwards, you can try tostadas, fried tacos, enchiladas and three sopas, all at once.
- La Mar by Gaston Acurio:What else is better than watching the sunset by the sea with a glass of cocktail? When the moon rises, you can enjoy the incredible night view of Miami’s skyline on the terrace. Without spending a penny, you can soak up the inspiration - just bring your eyes.
- Key Biscayne:Isolated from the mainland, Key Biscayne is the ideal destination for enjoying a natural landscape. Driving all the way to its southern-most point, Bill Baggs Cape Florida State Park is waiting for you. Aside from sunbathing, swimming and having a picnic on the top-ranked beachfront, it is also highly recommended to climb to the top of the lighthouse, where you can enjoy a 360 degree, breathtaking view of Miami.

- Lincoln Road Mall:Shop until you drop on Lincoln Road on Miami Beach. Strolling in between tons of well-known shops, you can always find sit-down places, where you can slow down the pace and have a nice time to enjoy a coffee.
- Wynwood:Bring along friends and be prepared for the monthly Art Walk party in Wynwood, happening every second Saturday of the month. On that day, all the art galleries and retailers will open until 10 PM. A night market and a food truck festival are some of the sneak peeks of this lively evening.
Where to have brunch?
- Doggi’s Arepa Bar:Where is the best place to go for Arepas? All my Venezuelan friends swear by Doggi’s Small, neat and with an ethnic interior design, the entrance is always packed with a long queue around lunch time. The famous, delicious Cachapa, wrapped around queso fresco (a typical Venezuelan cheese), will take your mind off calorie intake for a while.
- Las Olas Café:If you happen to be on South Beach and puzzled about a location for an easy yet tummy-filling lunch, follow me to the Cuban Las Olas! The great classic, crunchy Cuban sandwich with Guava juice is a smart, quick-to-go option. Or you can step inside and order a plate of the day’s hot fare - one main and two sides. Most importantly, be sure to bring some cash, as they don't accept credit cards.
Where to go out?
- Mondrian South Beach Hotel Sunset Lounge:This scenic sunset lounge, facing Biscayne Bay, enjoys a terrific location, which is great for watching the sunset over Miami's downtown skyline. If you get tired from too much dancing, just lean back at the private cabanas next to the pool.
- Basement Miami of Edition Miami Beach:Hidden in the luxurious EDITION hotel, the Basement club has proven to be a hot spot for nightlife. With a small ice skating rink and a four-lane bowling alley, it definitely stands out from the crowd.
- Ball & Chain:If you want to soak up the Latin music scene, head to club “Ball and Chain”. From Thursday through Saturday, starting at 6 pm, several of Miami’s finest jazz musicians will take over the stage. Make sure to pick one of their signature cocktails and featured small snacks to warm up before dancing all night.
