EHL students are preparing to go back to Lausanne, with their best business attire, and by making sure they have what’s needed for getting through their campus days, whether it is for classes, group meetings, committees or simply hanging out with friends at the end of the day.
A whole day on campus calls for some essentials to help you make the most out of it. If you sometimes find yourself asking whether you have everything, or “what else could I need today?”, we have you covered!
This article will help you check all the items off your list, for this winter .1. Laptop charger
Although this one seems obvious, make sure you do not leave it at home. Spending most of the day on the computer for classes, research, group works, you’ll constantly be looking for plugs. Of course, our IT service can lend you one, but it is better to have your own.
2. Headphones
These are essential in your bag! When you look around on campus, you will not see a student who doesn’t have them. With more than 2,000 students on campus, headphones are a great way to isolate while studying, or simply listening to videos for projects. They’re also important if you’re planning on going to the gym after classes!
3. Phone
You probably noticed that we are huge Instagram users! We never want to miss a good picture and it is always nice to capture the campus with Christmas decoration or covered in snow. EHL students also love to show the foodie inside them with pictures of the delicious treats on campus.
4. Phone charger
EHL students regularly use their phone during the day, to take pictures, to catch up with friends, to check their daily meetings and classes. In general, we tend to forget the phone charger, having the impression that the battery will last forever. Well, you will soon find out you actually need it.
5. Student card
Never forget it, never go anywhere without it! It enables to you to everything that’s on campus: open doors, print your documents, buy your breakfast to start off the day right. Do not forget when you go away either: as it also gives you discounts to some stores, and trains to France!
6. Chapstick
EHL campus is located 900m above the sea level, so it can get really cold in winter and dry in the summer.
7. Snow shoes and umbrella
In winter EHL campus is covered in a beautiful white coat, which is perfect for great pictures, but a little less perfect to walk back home. During the winter season, you may want to keep both in your locker, you never know when snow surprises us!
8. Sunglasses
EHL campus has a beautiful terrace with a breathtaking view of the Alps and the forest right across. You can enjoy some time with your friends, for lunch or happy hour. At the end of the day, you can expect to see the sun setting over the mountain! You don’t want to miss any of it, so make sure you have your sunglasses to witness all these moments.
9. Water bottle
The project to eliminate plastic cups on campus and replacing them with personal glass water bottles was initiated by EHL students. Today, the majority of students come to classes with their own bottles, that can contain both cold and hot liquids. It is a must to if you plan on staying all day on campus!
10. Wallet
Of course, EHL students use their student card to buy anything around school. Still, for events organized by the many student committees, you may need to pay cash. You obviously want to get a ticket to those gala dinners and festivals asap, so be sure you can! Plus, you never know when you’ll go downtown for an improvised dinner with friends.
